You certainly can. The Sol Reader custom lenses have a wide adjustable diopter range (if you happen to know your prescription we support 0 to -5.75, or the majority of corrective lenses), so most people have no need to wear contact lenses or glasses when reading.

No, and we don’t recommend wearing glasses while using the Sol Reader (no matter how stylish your frames are). You can customize the focus of each lens, and adjust the interpupillary distance (IPD) of where the lens sits in front of your eyes. Consider them your reading glasses.

If you have a DRM-free (.epub) library, you can simply load the books up in the Sol Reader using the Sol app. Our app marketplace has you covered for most books you'll want to read, and makes buying and managing content a breeze.

Books are just the beginning. You can also access newsletters, and use the Pocket app to upload articles that you’ve bookmarked. It can all be managed on the Sol app, including how often newsletters and articles appear on your Sol Reader.

The Sol Reader keeps your peripheral vision intact, so that even when you’re lost in a book, you’ll be able to see where you are. But if you truly want to shut out the world, we’ll have an accessory that allows you to get even more immersed (coming soon!).

The Sol Reader is currently designed for ages 16+.

Sol Reader lenses project an image in front of you at a comfortable reading distance of about 1.5 meters (~4.5 feet); when adjusted properly during setup, you shouldn’t feel any eye strain at all.

And more focus means you’ll go deeper into distant realms populated by creatures only the imagination could…uh oh. We feel a long story coming on. Let’s stop there.

All you need is a small handheld remote. Which – you guessed it – helps you navigate back and forth through whatever you’re reading. Unless what you’re reading is really short. Like a haiku. In that case, the remote will pause and reflect on the profundity of life, along with you.

If you read an average of 30-45 minutes every day, you only need to charge it once a month. If you read all day (remember to break for meals!) it’ll last until you reach the last page on your 24-hour reading binge.

Go ahead, read for hours. The Sol Reader has an adjustable silicone nose piece to allow you to place the device at the right position in front of your face, whether you’re seated or lying down. In terms of weight, the device is more like a pair of glasses than a VR headset, so it doesn’t require straps. Our company record is 15 hours of reading in one day, can you break it?
